The Sale of Burial Rights

  1. Residents of Kaysville City may only purchase two (2) burial spaces for persons of the same household and only at the time of need.

Flower & Decorations

  1. Fresh-cut flowers are permitted any time if placed in a permanent vase located either on the monument (upright headstone) or in the mow strip (the cement or granite border) and may be removed and discarded without notice when they become unsightly at the discretion of the Sexton.
  1. Artificial flowers (dried, plastic, or silk) and decorations, including but not limited to balloons, craft items, figurines, flags, pinwheels, potted live plants, shepherd hooks, and solar lights are not permitted during the mowing season which is from April 1 through November, with the following exceptions:
  • On Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, and Halloween.
  • Artificial flowers in a permanent fixture on the raised portion of a monument (upright headstone). 
  1. During the mowing season, any item(s) placed on the mow strip, or the lawn, may be removed and discarded without notice.
  1. Funeral flowers, floral pieces, and decorations may be removed and discarded without notice when they become unsightly at the discretion of the Sexton.
  1. All holiday decorations may be removed and discarded on the first Monday following the holiday.  All holiday floral pieces and decorations may be discarded without notice seven (7) days after the holiday. **Memorial Day flowers may be placed in the cemetery the Thursday before Memorial Day**
  1. A general cleanup may be done annually on:
  • The first week in April.
  • The Monday following Memorial Day (all flowers and grave decorations may be removed and discarded)
  • The second week in November.
  1. The cemetery claims no responsibility or liability, nor will accept any claims against it, for loss or destruction of personal property left in the cemetery, and disclaims all responsibility for loss or damage from causes beyond its reasonable control, and especially from damage caused by the elements, an act of God, common enemy, thieves, vandals, explosions, invasions, insurrections, riots, or order of any military or civil authority, whether the damage be direct or collateral, other than as herein provided.

Monuments & Markers (aka Headstones)

  1. Headstones can be either flat or upright, except for a few restricted areas.  Please call the cemetery office at 801-497-7140 for details on those restricted areas.
  1. All monuments and markers (headstones) installed at the Kaysville City Cemetery shall comply with the following:
    1. The maximum headstone dimensions for a single flat marker are thirty-two inches (32") in width by forty inches (40") in length, which shall include the six-inch (6") mow strip.
    2. The maximum headstone dimensions for double flat markers are thirty-two inches (32") in width by eighty inches 80" in length, which shall include the six-inch including 6” mow strips.
    3. The maximum headstone dimensions for a single upright monument are thirty-two inches (32”) in width by forty inches (40") in length, which shall include the six-inch (6") perimeter mow strip.  The height shall not be less than twelve inches (12") and no more than thirty-six inches (36") height for a single stone. 
    4. The maximum headstone dimensions for a double upright monument are thirty-two inches (32") in width by eighty inches (80") in length, which shall include the six-inch (6”) perimeter mow strips.  The height shall not be less than twelve inches (12") and no more than thirty-six inches (36") height for a single stone. 
    5. All monuments and markers shall have no less than six-inch (6") concrete or stone mow strips around the perimeter (meaning all sides) of the headstone. Mow strips must be solid and contiguous in an unbroken sequence.
    6. All headstones are inspected for compliance and an inspection fee is collected on the date the monument and marker are installed.  If the headstone does not comply in any way, it will not be permitted and the Citywill not bear any cost to make it comply.
  2. The Kaysville Cemetery and City accept no responsibility for loss or damage to any monument or marker unless such loss or damage is a direct result of negligence on the part of the City.
