[ARCHIVED] Soliciting in Kaysville City

Solicitor Badge Example

Recently the City has received many complaints about Solicitors on our streets, some of which we have found to not be licensed with the city.  Door-to-door solicitation is allowed in Kaysville, but we require every solicitor to obtain a license from the City in an effort to try to help protect the privacy of our citizen’s residences, and to help prevent criminal conduct.

Those who have been approved to solicit in the city will be issued a name badge which must be displayed on their person at all times.  If the city-issued badge is not in plain sight, the solicitor is not in compliance and we ask that you contact the Kaysville Police Department’s business line at 801-546-1131 while the solicitor is still in the area so that our Officers can attempt to make contact with them.

Many complainants have stated that solicitors are ignoring “No Soliciting” signs.  Kaysville City Ordinance 16-11-18 states that it is every solicitor’s responsibility to check each residence for any “No Soliciting” sign or other notice notifying the solicitor to not solicit on the premises.  It is a violation for any solicitor to ignore such notices.  If you have a solicitor come to your door who has ignored your “No Soliciting” sign, or are rude or disorderly, please ask them to leave and call the Kaysville Police Department.  If you have any concerns about a solicitor in your area, or if you should find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, please contact the Kaysville Police Department immediately.

If someone approaches your door and informs you that they are with a certain company (gas, water, telephone, cable TV, etc.) request to see their company picture ID card and City issued solicitor's registration badge.  We encourage you to teach your children safety tips about not allowing strangers into your home.  Call the Kaysville Police Department if you observe suspicious persons or activities.
