Code Enforcement
The Kaysville City Code Enforcement Officer protects the quality of life in City neighborhoods by seeking maximum compliance to Kaysville City code requirements concerning exterior property maintenance. The purpose of ordinance enforcement is to promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Kaysville City. This purpose includes protecting neighborhoods against hazardous and deteriorating conditions that contribute to the degradation of neighborhood property values. Junk & Debris
Litter, trash, junk or debris stored outside is a violation. If an item doesn't belong outside or is not being used for its intended purpose, it must be stored in an enclosed structure such as a shed, garage or home.
Right-of-Way Obstructions
It is unlawful for any person to erect, construct or maintain any building, structure or obstruction, any part of which extends on, over or beneath the property platted or dedicated to the City for street or sidewalk purposes or to obstruct travel thereon in any manner.
Sidewalk Obstruction
Kaysville City prohibits any obstruction of travel on a public sidewalk. The property owner adjacent to the sidewalk is responsible to trim vegetation in such a way as to not obstruct the sidewalk. Snow removal on sidewalks is required to be done within 24 hours of any snow fall event.
Unregistered Vehicles
Any inoperable and/or unlicensed vehicle has to be in an enclosed structure such as a garage or behind a six foot solid fence. Inoperable vehicles are not allowed to be stored under a tarp. Car parts and engine parts must also be stored in an enclosed structure.
View Obstructions
No obstruction to view is allowed on any residential lot between the sidewalk and the curb, or eight feet back from the edge of the street, where no sidewalk exists, or in any street right-of-way, except lawn trees that are pruned high enough to permit unobstructed vision to vehicle drivers. On a corner lot in any district, no obstruction to view, except utility fixtures not higher than three feet, shall be allowed to impede vision between a height of two feet and ten feet above the centerline grades of the street within a triangular area formed by the streets at property line and a line connecting them at points thirty feet from the intersection of the property lines.
Weeds
Weeds and grass must be maintained and kept at a height lower than eight inches.
Illegal Street Parking
Any vehicle including campers, utility trailers, boats, motor homes, and recreational vehicles are only permitted to use the city’s roadways for short term parking. No vehicle is permitted to be parked on the city roadway between midnight and 6:00 a.m. from the first day of November until the last day of February each year.
If you have an illegal street parking complaint, please submit a form online, or call the Kaysville Police Department at 801-546-1131.
