Dear Friends,

We hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful fall weather and the vibrant colors that surround our city. Recently, while walking through Barnes Park, I saw several children joyfully picking up bits of trash as they played. They weren’t asked to do it—they simply cared. That simple act reminded me why Kaysville is such a unique and special place to live. It’s not just our parks or our mountains that make us exceptional—it’s our people.

As we enter this season of gratitude, let’s take a moment to reflect on the blessings that come with living in a community like ours. In Kaysville, we honor our past, celebrate the present, and work together to build a strong future for generations to come. Our history is filled with stories of pioneers, families, and neighbors who built this city through faith, service, and resilience. Their legacy lives on every time we lend a hand, show kindness, or teach our children to take pride in where they live.

We are also deeply blessed to be Americans—to live in a nation founded on freedom, faith, and opportunity. Our ability to gather, to worship as we choose, to express our opinions, and to pursue happiness are privileges that countless men and women have sacrificed to defend. President Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” As we enjoy the peace and safety of our daily lives, may we remember those who serve and protect these freedoms, and strive to live in a way that honors their sacrifice.

This month, as we observe Veterans Day, we pause to express our heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to liberty ensure that we can live, work, and raise our families in freedom. My father, grandfather, brothers-in-law, and uncle are all veterans whose families have sacrificed as they’ve served our country. I have so much respect and love for our military families—past and present—whose quiet strength, devotion, and service embody the best of America. To every veteran and military family in Kaysville—thank you. You are the quiet heroes among us, and your service strengthens the very foundation of our community. May we honor you not just in words, but through our daily actions—by serving others, upholding integrity, and cherishing the freedoms you have defended.

Our community’s strength has always come from relationships—neighbors who know each other by name, families who look out for one another, and friends who step up when someone is in need. The loyalty and unity we share are what turn a city into a family. It’s the reason Kaysville continues to thrive even as times change. We stand together not because we agree on everything, but because we care about each other and about this place we all call home.

As Americans, we are united by more than geography—we are connected by shared values: hard work, service, and hope. In Kaysville, those values shine every day in our schools, churches, small businesses, and city programs. When we serve side by side—whether planting trees, coaching youth sports, or supporting local causes—we strengthen the very foundation of our democracy: the belief that communities flourish when people work together for the common good.

Faith, family, and freedom are the cornerstones of who we are. Our founding fathers believed that with liberty comes responsibility—the responsibility to care for our neighbors, to teach our children gratitude, and to leave things better than we found them. That principle still guides us today. As President Abraham Lincoln reminded the nation during a time of great challenge, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” His words remind us that unity, respect, and integrity are what preserve the blessings we cherish most.

This Thanksgiving season, I invite each of us to express gratitude not only in words but in action—to find ways to serve, like the adorable children in the park, connect with in person with others, and continue the legacy of faith and community that defines Kaysville. Thank you for making this city such a remarkable place to call home. Together, we’re preserving the values that matter most—faith, family, service, and kindness.

Elections

Don't Forget to Vote!

The last day to vote is coming up on Tuesday, November 4th! 

Due to new state legislation, ballots must be received by the County Clerk’s Office by 8:00 PM on Election Day (November 4) to be counted. Postmarks no longer count, which means it is too late to put your ballot in the mail! Ballots delayed in the mail and received after Election Day will not be counted. 

On Election Day, in-person voting will be available at the Kaysville Library (215 E Fairfield Rd) from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

A secure ballot drop box is available 24/7 at the Kaysville Library and can be used through Election Day.

Winter Parking

Winter Parking Restrictions Begin November 1

It’s that time of year again — chilly mornings, cozy blankets, space heaters, and winter parking rules! From November 1 through March 1, no vehicles may be parked on city streets between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. (City Code 6-2b-4(8)).

Keeping cars off the roads helps our snowplow crews clear roads safely and efficiently during winter storms. Please remember to move your vehicles to avoid citations — even if the weather looks clear. Citations will be issued whether it snows or not.

Kaysville Gives 2025

🎄 Kaysville GIVES: Every Child Deserves Christmas

For the ninth year in a row, Kaysville GIVES is bringing the true spirit of the season to life by helping make Christmas a little brighter for local children and families in need. What started with just a handful of tags on a giving tree inside City Hall has grown into a citywide tradition — one that reflects the heart and generosity of our community.

This year, Kaysville GIVES will support over 550 children from Kaysville schools through donated gifts, sponsorships, and contributions from residents and local businesses. The goal is to raise $30,000 to ensure every child receives something special this holiday season.

Every act of giving — whether you sponsor one child, donate online, or spread the word — makes a difference. Each gift represents a neighbor helping a neighbor, and together we create a ripple of kindness that reaches every corner of our city.

The KaysvilleGIVES.com website will be live and ready the first week of November, making it easy for residents and businesses to get involved. From the website, you can sponsor a child, shop online from curated wish lists, or make a direct donation.

Kaysville GIVES is a reminder that the magic of Christmas doesn’t come from what we receive — it comes from what we share. Thank you, Kaysville residents and businesses, for your continued generosity and compassion. You truly make the difference.

Fill the Fire Truck 2025

🚒 Fill the Fire Truck – Saturday, December 6 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Barnes Park

Join us for one of the highlights of the season — the Fill the Fire Truck event!

This year, we’re moving to a new location at Barnes Park, and the celebration will be bigger and brighter than ever.

Bring new, unwrapped toys or cash donations to help fill the Kaysville Fire Department’s truck for local families in need. While you’re there, enjoy:

💚 A visit from The Grinch
🍩 Sweet treats from The Donut Truck (donating 10% of profits!)

Quail Crossing Survey

Help Shape the Future of Quail Crossing Park!

Kaysville City Parks and Recreation is seeking community feedback on Quail Crossing Park, located at approximately 194 East 2300 South. Originally developed as part of a homeowners' association (HOA) community, the park was donated to the City in 2014.

The City has hired a consultant to help envision new amenities and explore potential future improvements for the park. Currently, Quail Crossing Park features a recently updated small playground, picnic shelters, and a walking and biking trail.

Road Construction

Infrastructure Updates: Roads, Signals, and Sidewalks

We want to thank our residents and businesses for your patience during an exceptionally busy road construction season. This summer, we saw the completion of two new traffic signals on Mutton Hollow, the replacement of more than two miles of underground piping along 200 North, ADA repairs on six city blocks, repaving of 1,110 feet of 200 North, and UDOT’s completion of the Main Street repaving project.

While most road construction pauses during the winter, work on the 200 North project between Main Street and Fruit Heights will continue. Crews will focus on underground piping replacements as well as new curb and sidewalk installations between 500 East and Fruit Heights. Detours around construction zones will remain in place in various configurations until the project’s completion, which is anticipated in December 2026.

Though this work and its delays can be frustrating, please help by staying alert and mindful of crews, equipment, vehicles, and pedestrians in and around work areas. We truly appreciate your patience, cooperation, and support throughout these important projects.

Green Waste Recycling during Winter

Green Waste Recycling Paused After November 30

As the gardening season winds down, green waste recycling takes a winter break. From December 1 through March 31, your green waste can may be used for regular household garbage.

Regular green waste recycling will resume on April 1, when the can should again be used only for yard clippings, leaves, and other accepted green materials.

The Angel of Hope statue stands as a beacon of comfort and strength for parents and families who have experienced the loss of a child. It serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance and healing, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, hope endures. The statue is located in the southwest corner of the Kaysville City Cemetery at 500 East Crestwood Drive, made possible through the generosity of local residents and businesses.

Join us for the 3rd Annual Candlelight and Rose Ceremony on December 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kaysville Cemetery. Candles, roses, and refreshments will be provided. The ceremony will be held rain or shine, offering a moment of peace, reflection, and shared support during the holiday season for all who are navigating grief.

America250 is the official celebration of the country's Semiquincentennial birthday. The Kaysville-Fruit Heights Museum of History and Art has received a Kaysville RAMP grant to be used to collaborate with the city during year-long events. Thanksgiving Holiday Office Closed

City Offices Closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday

Kaysville City Offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27-28 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Garbage collection WILL be delayed one day following starting on Thursday, November 27th.  If your regular disposal pickup day is Thursday, your garbage will be picked up on Friday. If your garbage day is normally picked up on Friday, it will be picked up on Saturday. Please remember to have your garbage can out by 6:00 AM.

Cemetery Cleanup

Cemetery Maintenance Reminder

The City Cemetery's monthly fall clean-up happens on the first consecutive Monday and Tuesday of each month except January. 

All decorations, except faux flowers in permanent vases, will be removed by cemetery staff. This includes shepherd's hooks, solar lights, potted plants, figurines, knick-knacks, and decorations. If there are any items you would like to keep, please pick them up before the cleanup days.

Kaysville business owners are invited to attend our Business Supporting Business meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of every month (unless otherwise noted) at the Business Resource Center at Davis Tech (450 Simmons Way, Kaysville). These one-hour meetings begin at 8:00 AM and offer a chance to network with fellow business owners and learn about local resources. 

Next meeting: Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 8:00 AM.  There will be no business meeting held in December.

Free Mental Health Screening

Free Mental Health Screening for Youth

A free mental health screening event for preschool & elementary youth will be held on November 13th in Layton.  The screening is a quick, confidential way to check in with a therapist about your child’s social and emotional needs. It can help start a conversation that leads to support and connection to resources as needed.  Register online before Nov. 6th at this link: https://www.dbhutah.org/screening/ .

The Davis Shooting Range is now operating under winter hours. 

Winter Hours (October - March):
Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Enjoy a day of shooting sports with friends and family at the Davis Shooting Range. We also host a variety of events on weekends, including Cowboy Action, IDPA, USPSA, .22 Tactical, and Steel Match. Come and get acquainted with your community range, and feel free to bring a friend!
