Why are the elections being held so late this year?

For 2023 only, Governor Cox moved the General Election Day to Tuesday, November 21.  This adjustment was prompted by the unexpected resignation of Utah Congressman Chris Stewart, who served Utah's second district. The delay has provided time for a special election to fill the vacant office.
