All Things Snow

Winter has arrived, and with that comes the topics of snow plows, winter parking and snow removal from sidewalks.

Snow Plows

Our Kaysville City Public Works is dedicated to keeping the roads safe during the winter season. They strive to remove ice from our roads as quickly and safely as possible to maintain a safe flow of traffic throughout the city. Emphasis is also placed on ensuring emergency services can be provided throughout the city.  Snow is cleared from primary roads first. This is so that the streets with the most amount of regular and emergency traffic are as safe as possible. Weather conditions determine the amount of plows and type of materials used for each storm. The city has it's own snow plow tracker that can be viewed during snow days here.

Thank a Snow Plow Driver

Snow removal is a long and difficult task. Our Public Works employees work long hours salting and plowing our streets. They often work during the worst weather conditions, early in the mornings and late into the night.  When you see one of our snow plow drivers out, give them a smile and wave. We are grateful for what they do!

No Overnight Parking

Winter Parking

Kaysville City Code prohibits overnight parking on streets from November 1 to March 1 between the hours of 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Citations are being issued whether it snows or not. Each parking citation is $40.00. Parking citations that are paid for in a timely manner will be reduced. After 30 days, you will be responsible to pay the full amount. Parking citations can be paid online or in person at City Hall.

Snow Removal from Sidewalks

All property owners within the city are responsible to remove snow on all public sidewalks abutting their property. This includes corner lots and properties that back onto public streets.  Shoveling snow and ice from your sidewalks is important for the safety of resident and those visiting our city. We encourage residents to work together to keep sidewalks clear for safe passage.

It is illegal to shovel or blow snow into the street (Kaysville City Ordinance 9-2-11). This is problematic, especially when a street has already been plowed, as this snow is easily frozen, reducing traction and becoming a hazard in the road.

Remove Snow Around Fire Hydrant

Snow Removal around Fire Hydrants

If there is a fire hydrant near your house, clear the snow around it. Make a wide enough perimeter around it for firefighters to work (about 3 feet).  Also clear a path from the hydrant to the street.

Contact the Public Works Department at 801-544-8112 if you should see snow or ice control problems.
