Kaysville Star Lighting for Peace Kaysville joins with Governor Cox and the state of Utah in showing support for Israel in the wake of the horrific attacks carried out by Hamas, and we hope and pray for peace to all the people of Israel and Palestine. We believe that communities become stronger as they come together to call out evil and support peace. The Kaysville star was lit on the mountainside on the evening of Monday, October 23rd as a reminder of our hopes and prayers for peace. The lighting of the Kaysville star around the holidays is a 60-year-old tradition. The star was also lit in February 2022 when Kaysville joined other cities and the state of Utah in a show of support for Ukraine.

Winter Parking begins November 1It’s that time of year again, cold weather, smog, space heaters and winter parking restrictions. From November 1st – March 1st between 12 am – 6 am vehicles are not allowed to park on city streets (City Code 6-2b-4(8)). Please make sure your vehicles are off the roadways to allow plows to safely clear the roads. We are certain you don’t want to receive a Christmas card from the Kaysville Police Department this year. We will be issuing citations whether it snows or not. Thank you for helping us with this matter.

Trim Low-Hanging BranchesAs fall gets into full swing and winter creeps closer, Kaysville City Public Works would like to remind residents of the need to keep trees and other obstructions that might hang out into the roadways trimmed back. In order to assist with snow plowing, garbage collection, mail delivery and to avoid damage to vehicles, Kaysville City Ordinance 9-2-11 identifies that roads must be kept clear 14 feet vertically at the back of the curb (or edge of the pavement if there is no curb). This not only helps to ensure the delivery of effective services, but it also reduces potential homeowner liability from damages that can be caused by trees or other obstructions. For questions, please contact 801-544-8112. Thanks!

Vehicle Burglary PreventionIn 2023 alone Kaysville Police Department has handled 51 vehicle burglaries, 21 residential burglaries, and 15 vehicle thefts. We are promoting the #9PMRoutine. The 9 pm routine is a series of steps that homeowners can get in the habit of going through every night as a means of theft prevention. The goal is to make the routine something that homeowners do automatically without having to think about it. The routine is fairly simple, each night at 9 pm we ask that you take the following steps to protect your property: - Remove all valuable from your vehicle including keys and weapons - Lock your vehicle - Lock your residential doors/windows and close your garage - Turn on exterior lights Obtaining video surveillance on your home might also deter someone from coming to your home. Check out the Kaysville Police Departments social media accounts for your nightly reminder of the 9 pm routine.

Kaysville GIVES 2023Kaysville GIVES was started as a way for our community to help make Christmastime just a bit easier for those that live and go to school here in Kaysville. It started by helping The Family Enrichment Center in Kaysville with 10 families, Mountain High School students, the Bountiful Food Pantry, and Safe Harbor. The residents were able to come to City Hall and select tags off the Christmas Tree there and return them in time to organize the gifts. We were hopeful to be able to fill the Christmas request from each location. In 2019, we moved all the physical Christmas Tree Tags to virtual tags on our website www.kaysvillegives.com. It made is so that we could reach more residents and allowed us to support more of the needs in our community. During COVID, we were able to utilize Amazon Gift Lists so the giver could shop online and have the gifts sent directly to the City Offices making it safe for the giver and the volunteers. We found that the residents really liked being able to give that way. We also made it so that donations could be made online and that was another great way to make it simple to donate. Over the last 7 years the vision and goal of Kaysville GIVES has always been to give back to those who are in need here in our own community. That is why so many love to be a part of this. Kaysville Gives has been able to achieve that goal every year thanks to our AMAZING business and resident donations from families, church groups, youth groups, neighborhood groups, and service groups. In 2022, we joined a partnership with Young Truck and Trailer and the Young Caring for Young Foundation. Young Truck and Trailer received all of our donations at their location in Kaysville, provided trucks and trailers for transportation of the donations and received all financial donations through their foundations, so all donations can be tax-exempt. It was a great support. Kaysville GIVES begins November 20th and goes until December 8th. To find out how to get involved you can go to our website at www.kaysvillegives.com. For questions or to inquire on how to get involved email medstrom@kaysville.gov.

Mike Blackham1111 West Webb Lane MBlackham1535@gmail.com I have lived in Kaysville City for about 30 years. I have witnessed a lot of changes. I have a real passion for the city and have worked hard to try and keep it as Utah's Hometown. I feel like a city has a responsibility to provide the core services to its residences such as water, sewer, power, streets, police and fire protection. I believe these things should be provided in a very responsible and fiscal manner. I also believe that our downtown, parks, recreation, trails and open space help build a strong community. I have always had to live on a budget, and I believe a city should live on one also. I have always taken the responsibility of spending your tax dollars as my hardest and highest priority. My 34 years working for Kaysville City and 4 years on the council have shown me how much your community means to you, and I will do my best to keep this Utah's Hometown.

Nate Jackson592 East 250 North ElectNate.com I have a deep passion for public service and over the past two decades, I've dedicated myself to collaborating with elected officials at all levels of government in various roles. This experience has provided me with a profound understanding of the role of government, and the practical tools needed to thoughtfully evaluate public policies and ensure the responsible management of our tax dollars. I currently serve as the Northern Utah Director and Military Affairs Advisor to Senator Mike Lee. In my day-to-day responsibilities, I study a multitude of issues and work closely with local, state, and federal officials to solve problems and make our communities better. Nearly eight years ago, my wife and I made Kaysville, "Utah's Hometown," our home. We hold a deep affection for this community and its people. Preserving the legacy and charm of our city, no matter how small my contribution, is the driving force behind my decision to run for city council. As your council member and voice, I am committed to prioritizing the following seven principles: 1. Promoting responsible development that fits our values and heritage. 2. Advocating for a fiscally responsible city budget. 3. Prioritizing transparent and respectful communication. 4. Supporting common-sense policies. 5. Strengthening essential and basic city services. 6. Enhancing the aesthetics and beauty of our city. 7. Encouraging robust public engagement and a cohesive community. My current responsibilities on the council include serving on the Legislative Policy Committee, advocating for our city's needs to the Utah League of Cities & Towns, and championing our interests against overbearing state policies. In my last two years of serving on council, I've helped find ways to reduce our city's expenses, opposed undesirable development, worked to enhance development agreement plans, advocated for enhancing our trails and beautifying our city’s landscaping, pushed for additional resources to repair sidewalks and improve power infrastructure, and have actively worked towards revitalizing our downtown to support local businesses and to attract new ones. It would be an honor to continue serving the residents of Kaysville on our city council and I humbly ask for your vote.

Stay Out of Work ZonesWe know it may be tempting, but please stay out of the West Davis Corridor work zone. Our police officers are continuing to issue many tickets for trespassing on the property. This also includes the walking path. Please stay out of this area as crews are working diligently to get the road up and running. UDOT team members and police officers are trying to keep you safe, as well as trying to keep themselves safe so that they can get back to their families at the end of the day. Please have a little patience and wait until the highway is completed and open to use it. Thank you!
